Remove unwanted loops in the schedule / Unerwünschte Schleifen in der Planung entfernen

Hi Guido, I'm having the following problem:
I pre-planned a route in Google Maps and imported it via a link (great feature, by the way!).
Now I'm checking the route and keep coming across unwanted and unnecessary loops here and there (see image).
How can I remove them? I've already set vias before and after, but that didn't work.
As the RoadCaptain of a group, I have to compensate for such extra loops in the evening with a cold drink...

I think this is caused by Scenic trying to send you back. Check if the via points are placed on the correct side of the road. Especially for roads with separated road halves (like highways) this is imported.

Because Google ahas different map data then Scenic the placement of via points can be slightly off.

if you can’t find the problem, could you post the Google Maps link?

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Ah, that seems to have been it, the route looks better now.
However, I also switched between car and bike mode (bottom right) to trigger a recalculation (might be worth an extra button).
I can't insert the Google link anymore (I only use it for the very first planning start), but the link to the route in ... Scenic is here.

I'm a big fan of Scenic, a big thank you from me (ranked 523 in the national list 🙂 )

If you ever need to improve anything: the mode like on Google where you can grab the route and drag it where you want... that would be great 😀

OK. Happy you found the problem.

The drag feature is nice on the desktop if you have a mouse or a trackpad, but on a touch screen device like your phone it doesn't really work very well. There is no "click" to start the drag (I guess a long press could solve that), but then where you drag the route would actually be hidden by your finger.

Since Scenic on the Mac is running the iPad version, this is not something I want to add in the Mac version only.

I am working on a web based planner for Scenic. There I might be able to add this, but this is going to take some time.

Looks like a great route!! Have saved it for some day 🙂

How were the roads? I drive a 300 Vespa, which actually is quite useable!

I use my iPadPro for 99.9% of all Trip Planning. There are a number of iPadOS Apps and Websites that support "Drag-n-Drop" when using either the TrackPad or Pencil. Since Scenic on macOS is using the iPadOS version, it would be a great addition for iPadOS to have this option when editing routes.

Thanks for the feedback on the route.
Whether it's possible to ride a Vespa there... I think so 🙂 Just give it a try 🙂

Since we're riding a mix of BMWs and Harleys, we deliberately avoided gravel roads and motorways.

When planning the route and detours, it's not easy to zoom in enough to get the crosshairs on the right side of the road, especially on smaller roads (not paths).
Regarding the drag feature: I have SCENIC on my MacBook (Air) and also on my iPad and find this Google feature really useful. It allows me to easily integrate sections of routes that look great and are rideable into the route. If this were possible via the web interface, for example (a SCENIC web planner? I see...), that would be another game changer.
