Question about Route recalculation

Last weekend I planned a short ride through the mountains of Tirol. Planning works fine, Transport mode was motorcycle with avoiding Autobahn. This mode I'm always using.

Here is the planned route:

Navigating works also fine, just until stop 5/waypoint 20. I could not stop because of traffic, so I droved by and turned. After the stop I drove into the old direction. Because of this Scenic has recalculated the route, but the transport mode and the avoiding settings were ignored. So I should drove via Autobahn.

Next day I noticed that the transport mode icon has switched to a car. I don't know how this happened, I didn't switched manually. I'm using CarPlay and haven't paused routing manually.

I may be missing something, but you say you drove by Stop 5. Therefore Scenic will think you arrived there, and your next stop is the finish by the start. Your screenshot shows no via points between stop 5 and the destination, so you would have been routed directly there

I don’t know why the routing method would have changed though. Curvy routing does require an online connection though - did you have good quality signal when you drove by Stop 5?

How did you see it has changed? Did you still have your route open?

I think it’s because of the curvy routing that the avoid highways is not honored on a recalculation. I’ll investigate.

Yes, that is what Scenic did. But because of my u-turn, Scenic has recalculated the route. I drive without headset, so I don't hear any voice commands, but I have noticed the switched pink line. After a small break at Stop 5 I drove home into the originally calculated direction, and Scenic has noticed this and recalculated the route again.

Yes, I think the signal was good. I have had LTE, the Austrian mobile network is quite good.

I noticed the switched pink line after recalculating. I realized the "wrong" routing close to the highway, as Scenic said "turn right at the Autobahn 95". At this point I thought "Why? I was avoiding highways..."

Probably my failure. I will create via points at the whole route next time.

I always put in extra points, even if the route looks good when planning. All it needs is a minor variation to cause a recalculation and the route can change quite dramatically. By putting in extra points I narrow down Scenic’s options.
