POI warnings

Hi Guido,

Maybe I miss something. I’m using the same POI (speed camera / red light) files in Scenic 3 as I used before in Scenic 2. I enabled the POI layer in the map and see them while setting up.

Before I got the warning for the POI’s 250m in advance. Now I get no audible warning. Also I miss mostly the icons while navigating. It’s hard to pinpoint the problem. I rather concentrate on the traffic.

What is the procedure to get the proper warnings for POI’s?

Kind regards, Geert-Henk

Hoi Geert Henk,

The POI warnings have not yet been implemented in Scenic 3. Sorry.

I’m planning to add speed camera support out of the box though. Will be a little while as I’m working on CarPlay now

best regards,

Guido

Hi Guido,
Months ago I imported two files with poi (2000+ and 6000+ cameras). There were issues with scenic 3 at first, but I thought those were resolved. Is it better to remove them? Maybe also to increase stability?

Kind regards,
Geert-Henk

Honestly I also thought they were resolved, but issues resurfaced. I will need to rewrite this code anyway when adding the POI proximity alerts, so will take another look at it at that time.

You can leave the POI groups, but it’s better  not to enable them as layers in the ‘Show on Map’ dialog. It’s the drawing of all those markers on the map that causes the performance problems… sometimes leading to crashes.

Hi Guido,
I have found that just disabling the POI layers is not enough. Scenic 3 exhibited strange behavior. Sometimes I saw cameras on the screen when creating a route and while driving. The screen construction was also sometimes slow. (see also my other post: "where is the pink line".) After missing a turn, it took ages to rebuild the route.
I have deleted the POI files and now experience the fast response as it should. The navigation responds immediately to starts, changes and possible route corrections.
It seems like a bug so my solution is to delete large POI files (2000+ and 6000+ cameras).

Geert-Henk

Ok. Thanks Geert-Henk. I will make sure to pass this on to anyone that not found this post.

I have not had a chance to look at this yet, but will make sure to take this into account. Thanks again.
