Odd side routes
Quote from Dustin on 20.12.2021, 07:22I created a route from Monument, CO to Pueblo, CO for the day, telling routing options to avoid dirt roads, highways, ferries, tolls. It routed me in the direction I wanted to go, but about 3/4 of the way, it has me turn and go down a road for a while, only to turn around and come back to join the main road again. I see this behavior quite often. Is there something I’m doing causing this?

PS - I’m an app developer, too, and I’m blown away by your app and skills, Guido. Well done!

Quote from Dustin on 20.12.2021, 07:35Really weird, I just noticed that the side route is probably because it is shown as an End Point. Not sure how that happened. I will post again when I see this again, but it appears it is my error! Thanks!

Quote from Guido on 20.12.2021, 07:40This could be the reason indeed. Scenic is quite sensitive as to where you place via points, stops and end points. If it is slightly off route, and there's another (side) road very close, it will most likely assume you want to go into that side road, only to guide you back onto the main road again to reach the next via/stop. Here's more info on that if you're interested: https://scenic.app/help/strange-loops-while-importing/
