New mapping provider seems to not push the latest version of maps from OpenStreetMap?
Quote from Patrick V on 02.03.2025, 08:09I understood that the new mapping provider use OSM as their base maps. Over the last several weeks, I’ve been updating maps around my area on OSM with details, speed limits (hoping that that might have an impact on ride duration estimates which are still very overestimated), side roads that were missing, gas stations, locations that may be of interest for motorcycle riders, etc. Despite having updated my local map (Thailand) several times since then in Scenic, I still see none of the changes I’ve made reflected in the most recent maps available, even weeks after I’ve made those changes. However, I do see them on other OSM based apps like OsmAnd though.
It looks like the new mapping provider for some reason pulls old(er) versions of maps from OSM to then distribute those to users. Do you have any insight on how they update their maps?

Quote from Guido on 02.03.2025, 08:21Scenic 4’s map provider regularly (more or less every month) takes an extract of all up-to-date OSM data, processes that into their internal format and then pushes map updates out. So, once the correction has been made, it can take around 1 to 2 months for it to appear in Scenic.
The route duration is based on more than just max speed. The provider is currently working on improving this.

Quote from Patrick V on 02.03.2025, 08:23Thanks. I suspected something like that. I’ll keep an eye out to see if my changes will finally make it.

Quote from Guido on 02.03.2025, 08:27They should. I’ve made OSM updates in my region myself and they appeared a few weeks later. Maybe you were just unlucky, and made your changes just after they downloaded the extract, and so they will be in the next extract.
