Names for Via Points (also Kurviger “send to Scenic”)

My original setup was Kurviger for route planning and sending the GPX to a Garmin Zumo XT. In December I started using Scenic as my ride buddies have iPhones and started to use Scenic.

I still plan most of my rides using Kurviger and “Send to Scenic” and the XT. I have had issues with iPhone failing me on some rides with the iPhone being the problem - screen failure, water, overheating. So I use both still.

I am in the habit of naming all my Points in Kurviger, both Waypoints (Stops) and Shaping Points (Vias), in fact Kurviger now names all points that you select on a map with Street Name, Town or the Point Of Interest name. I know a lot of people do not do this but I like to know where I am 😁.

Garmin accepts these all these point names but Scenic converts Shaping Points (Vias) into Via 1, Via 2 etc and only keeps Stop names.

Is there an appetite to enable Via Points to have names in Scenic ?

I can convert all the Kurviger Shaping Points to Waypoints but that creates a lot of Stops in Scenic which can have its own set of problems if they are slightly off track.

I understand what you mean. Unfortunately Scenic's data model was not designed to give via points a custom name. It would take quite some work to add this, as the underlying database on the device and on the server would need to be adjusted for this. If there is a lot of demand for it, I might consider this, but so far, to be honest, not a lot of people have requested this. In fact, this is the first request 🙂.
