Map data errors and Routing

As you note, "sometimes there are map data errors and routing must take a 'detour' around the data error (gap in road data)."
On unmentioned GPS receivers, the workaround that has been used for many years, as you most likely know, has been to "show the Track of the Route overlaid on the Route" as the user navigates the Route. When the Route takes a right turn but the Track keeps going straight, the user knows something is amiss and can keep going or stop and evaluate the routing and original Track.
This approach only requires the ability to "show" the Track on the Map when navigating the associated Route (Track should be overlaid on the Route...like you do when Editing the Route.
