Mac/iOS Contacts

I've seen a couple of mentions of this, but one was in German and the other was not clear to me. Anyway…

I've had Scenic for a few years, but an accident and then COVID has kept me from needing to use it. However I hope to do so this year and in anticipation of this I thought I'd get familiar with it by using it for some more local trips. First thing I tried to do was navigate to a friend's house the other side of London (although where is not relevant). He is in my contacts so should be easy. After some fruitless time trying to figure out how to route to an existing contact, I gave up in frustration and reverted to using Apple Maps. Not the outcome I was looking for, nor expecting.

So, with no apparent 'User guide' I looked here in the forums to find out how to achieve this, but the above 2 posts seem to imply that this is not actually possible. Really? On any long tour I would always have all the stops in Contacts.app and previously in CoPilot this was child's play to then select the appropriate one as the destination. Am I to understand Scenic cannot do that?

I have to say this would be extremely disappointing if so. Also very surprising since it seems to me the first aim of any Sat Nav system would be to enable routing to stored contacts, wherever they may be and in the Apple ecosystem, that's in Contacts.app.

Please tell me I'm wrong.

I'm afraid you are not wrong. At this moment Scenic can not navigate you to contacts from your contact list. It is pretty high on the list to add in the future though. I realize this is important to some and I fully understand your argumentation. The reasons why it's not been done yet is (1) because this feature is a bit less important/urgent for a motorcycle navigation app like Scenic than it is for a mainstream A to B navigation app and (2) there are workarounds for this. E.g. copy paste the address of the contacts you regularly ride to in the Scenic search bar... and then store this as a location is Scenic. I know it's not ideal, but until I add this functionality a pretty decent workaround i.m.h.o.

Oh... b.t.w. there is a very detailed tutorial video on the support page. I know it's for Scenic 2 (an update for Scenic 3 is being made as we speak), but lots of things still very much apply: https://scenic.app/help/scenic-detailed-tutorial-video/

Ok, I do understand about priorities. I look forward to its implementation.

With my Mac I do it this way, explained it in the german thread about this "problem":

At least on a Mac you can workaround it with the program "POI Organizer", https://www.nightoilsoftware.com/POI_Organizer/ , where you can make POIs from your adress book and import it to scenic in "Locations", now you can see all your contacts on the map and search for it with menu Locations.

Perhaps it helps, until Guido implements this.

Is there a process whereby one can import a set of coordinates and have Scenic create locations?

Locations no, but you can enter a list of coordinates when you create / edit a personal poi group.
