Long trip... it worked very well!

Just got back from a 2-week 2,700 mile trip in western U.S… I used Scenic every day with pre-planned routes.

I used it via CarPlay to a Carpuride device mounted on my bike.

It worked flawlessly!!!! I am a long time user of Scenic 3 and have been waiting for Scenic 4 to get to the needed level of quality and features back and it has! I used version 4.21 on this trip. If you are on the fence on buying Scenic I’d say there is no need to wait - it works very well. Others in my group were using Garmin Tread, Rever, Garmin Nav6 and all had problems where I had none - I converted one of them over to Scenic during the trip and shared my routes easily with him - he was very impressed with all the customization available.

I had many occasions where I deviated from the route, started route in a different location than planned, paused and re-started, had the CarPlay disconnect and re-connect, went through tunnels & areas of poor GPS signal and even easily edited a couple of the routes on my phone to adjust for a last minute change of plans… in every case it did what I expected and never had it cause a problem for me.

The only oddity I can think of is that I noticed the speed limit shown on some roads was different than posted and on some others it didn’t display a speed limit when the road clearly had it posted. I think this affects the time estimates it provides for reaching your destination. I believe this issue has already been reported.

Just finished a trip 3500 km through Germany and France and had the same experience. That is, I had a couple of problems, but found the course. It was me.. There are so many options and details to observe that when in a hurry, mistakes may occur. But again, the app is excellent, it does what you ask it to do, I just need to be better at it 😀

I think the issues in the UK are speed cameras and traffic which can be supplemented by running Waze in the background.
For riding the main issue is Scenic has no idea about road closures and we have many locally so you need local knowledge.
For a long UK tour we had to revert to MRA.

Hi foxthorn.

Thanks for your detailed report. In my opinion you need to „work“ with Scenic to get familiar with all the options you got.
Just select a destiation and off you go dosnt work.

Guido always tries to saticfy the needs of the community, so we have many options to use Scenic. With every update i do some tests in my car before using Scenic on my bike.

But since 4.2 its performing well. I tested different Navi-Apps. They do there job, but their planning tools are poor, even when you set different stages to fast or curvy. Its better to plan them on a big screen.
With Scenic its very easy to plan with your cellphone.

As always: the main error is in front of the screen. People are complaining about things but are not able to take some time and learn how things work.

For e.g. Boys dont read manuals, sit in the new car and everything should work as expected. Wont happen!
