Knowing where you are
Quote from Bixio on 23.06.2022, 12:45Hi Guido,
Among the many reasons that made me switch from a Garmin device to Scenic, is the ability to zoom out and see where I am on a map that contains my entire route. (This is not needed, but in my case I have programmed the Wunderlink so that with a right push on the BMW wheel, Scenic goes to the overview screen, then by turning the wheel I can zoom in and out and see the big picture on the map. With a long right push on the wheel I come back to the navigation mode. All this can be done of course without using the wheel, by touching the screen.) My wish, is that when I zoom out of the overview screen, my current position stays somewhat in the middle of the screen. That way, with the correct amount of zooming, I see where I am with respect to the entire route. Right now, when I go to overview mode, my current position is often outside the screen. Then I need to reposition the center "manually" (fingers on the screen).
A related wish: My Garmin (Motorrad VI) device had a button that allowed me to see the address of my current position. I used that to see, say, the name of the town in which I am. Would this be a possible addition?
Best wishes

So... when you go to overview mode, by default the entire route is selected. When you then zoom in/out, the center of the map stays centered, so your location might drop of when you zoom in. In stead you would like your location to be the center of the zoom? Correct? If so, I will have to be honest... this is quite a specific use case, so not sure if it's worth it changing the current behaviour. In stead, might I offer another way to do this:
Set zoom to manual (Settings > Navigation & Tracking). Then, during navigation, you can zoom in and out during navigation by turning the wheel away from you or towards you. Since you are on manual zoom, the zoom level will stay. And your current location will be centered (because you are not really going to overview mode.. you are still navigating). On top of that you would still have the overview mode of course.

That's a great suggestion! I will add that to the list!
