Keep iPhone app accessible whilst in CarPlay
Quote from Grapii on 09.04.2025, 03:15Hi @guidomm, last year I posted some feedback after my Spanish tour --> Scenic app experience using CarPl …
One of the points was the ability to interact with the iPhone version of the app, whilst still running CarPlay, in order to access functionality that's limited by CarPlay.
You responded saying it's something in the works.
With the new map provider and redesign of scenic v4, is this something that's still on the table? I for one wouldn't mind less features in CarPlay if it means I can access the full functionality in the iPhone app without having to disconnect CarPlay / switch engine off.
It would be great if the phone app could stay alive whilst in CarPlay mode. Not to display as a mirror as such of the navigation, but a simpler / cut down view to access the options
I'm working on a redesign for fall of this year, and I'm planning to do just that. Add some functionality to the iPhone screen that is difficult or impossible to implement on CarPlay itself, including blocked roads.

Most people use CarPlay with iPhone stored away. That’s why I’m focusing on having CarPlay itself being as complete as possible (within limits of CarPlay templates and features) without the need to pull out iPhone during a navigation.
It’s also still planned to add some buttons and info on the black “Scenic active on CarPlay” screen that’s displayed on the iPhone when connected. But that’s not a priority item at the moment.

Additionally the CarPlay screen in my car disables the touch features while the car is moving. The iPhone does not do this.
