Issues with the Desktop (Mac Mini/Macbook Air) Version

Hey Guido.

Just a couple of things. I've just returned home from holidays and am catching up with things including Scenic. I hope that I'm not duplicating anything here.

In the Desktop version I have just experienced these issues:

  • I can only scroll up and down using the mouse when viewing an already saved route. I have to use the left/right arrow keys to scroll left and right.
  • How do I zoom in on the map in the desktop app when viewing a saved route?
  • And when I open it the map centres on Europe, not Australia. How do I get it to centre on my home address? You told me how to do it when I first started using Scenic Desktop but I can't find the answer to it. Sorry to be a bother.

I've just created a test route to see how it looks. It's just a quick ride from my place to the beach going over what we call the Strezlecki Ranges in Victoria, Australia. The map, when I zoom in on it, lacks a fair bit of detail, but when I look at the route that Scenic has planned, it is correct.

I started with my home as the start point and a place called Port Albert as the finish point. It calculated the correct route via what we call Hyland Highway. So, all good there.

Then I added a "Via 1". The route recalculated and went down the correct roads to get to the destination.

So that side of things look good.

I loaded existing routes that I planned with V3.x of Scenic and they loaded OK.

I'm going on a ride shortly so I'll see how Scenic goes with my Chigee AIO-5 Lite in Carplay mode. This will be the first time that I try this. I'll report back in this thread my findings.

And I've just read the sad and sorry saga about HERE. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest their armpits.

Hi Marts,

I'll take a look at the Mac problems. Just to be sure... you are running latest version v4.04 on your Mac? (See version number at bottom of settings).

Regarding CarPlay bugs... no need to report them. Had many reports already and I'm aware of, probabaly all bugs at the moment. Working on it. Releasing new update byu end of this week hopefully.

Cheers,
Guido

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Make sure Scenic on your Mac has location access through MacOS Settings.

Yes, just checked. Location services is allowing Scenic to access it.

And I'm running 4.04 (2).

As for CarPlay, yep, no worries. Only thing that I noticed was the direction bubble/window/alert covers most of the screen, the route is off to the right of the screen and the map appears to be in 2D mode. Other than that it's working fine.

Oh, and I  can't enter a street address via CarPlay, so I do it in the app on the phone.
