Issues with Date and time when tracking
Quote from Moeppel on 11.04.2025, 14:25I am using Scenic mostly for tracking my trips. Recently I realized that time and date for the last 2 trips is saved incorrect when ending and saving a trip. Issue occurred for the first time on April 8 under v 4.16
example 1: speed profile map shows trip on April 8, started 17:36:33, ended 18:34:52, = duration total 0:58:19, distance 22 km which is correct -> trip log shows April 6, end time 15:24, duration driving 5:24 hrs and pause time 45:31 hrs
example 2: speed profile map shows trip on April 11, start at 17:52:32, end at 20:00:54, = duration total 2:08:26, distance 60 km which is correct-> trip log shows April 8, end time 18:58, duration 1:29 hrs, pause time 71:33 hrs
I didn’t use Scenic between example 1 and 2 and my time and date settings in my iOS are correct.
Last trip with tracking before the 2 examples above was on April 6 and that tracking log was correct.
Setting in Scenic is in auto pause and auto continue when tracking, however with location only when app is in use, which hasn’t been an issue before the 2 examples mentioned.Any idea what’s happening?

Quote from Guido on 11.04.2025, 15:11It sounds like your ride was already started on April 6 (for the first example), but was immediately paused until you actually started riding. This could be a bug. Not sure. I will investigate. Are you using CarPlay?

Quote from Moeppel on 11.04.2025, 17:18Hi Guido,
I was thinking of that, too. But that doesn’t explain why the trip log has a riding time of 5:24 for 22 km. And it doesn’t make sense that the second log ended at 18:58 while the speed profile ends at 20:00 which was when I actually arrived at home and ended/saved the tracking.
When arriving at home I click on end trip (Fahrt beenden) and then save (Speichern). I had to start the tracking both on April 8 and April 11 when I left home as there was no active or paused tracking. And it’s strange that the speed profile map show correct start/end time and dates.
I updated to v 4.17 tonight and I will deactivate the auto pause/continue and see if that makes a difference. I set the standard transport mode to motorcycle (was car before), no idea if that has any impact on the tracking. And no, I don’t use CarPlay on my bike.l, I’m just using a lightning/USB cable for power supply.

I've taken a look on the server. The start time of these 2 rides is EXACTLY the time that the ride before it was saved + 1 second. This is very likely a bug. I will need to investigate.
The speed chart shows the actual time stamps of received locations.
I'll report back once I have found the cause and fix.
Meanwhile, I recommend to force close Scenic before starting a ride. Just to be sure.
Best regards and sorry for the inconvenience,
Guido

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense.
Had the same funny thing today. Opened Scenic and started tracking at 14:25. One hour later I saw that the duration was 8 hrs 20 mid. I stopped tracking, saved it an started a new one right after at 15:21.
The first track log has the time stamp 07:01 (speed log correct), the second log has time stamp 15:21 (same as speed log). The only thing I did at 7 am was that I started listening to Spotify over my headphones while making breakfast. No other App was in use. Scenic does not have access to Apple Music or media and I am not using shortcuts (if that has anything to do with the issue)
Thanks for looking into this!
sunny greetings from Christine 🙂

Quote from Guido on 14.04.2025, 08:45Hi Christine,
Ive been looking into this, but so far have not been able to reproduce this issue. There is another user with a similar issue though.
I did find something that MIGHT cause this. I’ll add a fox for that potential issue in the next update.
Meanwhile, to prevent this from happening, I recommend to force close Scenic (swipe up through the app switcher), before starting a new ride.
