Import Maps: Google URL vs GPX

When importing routes created in Google Maps, you have the option to just use the URL from the Google map you created, or you can create a GPX from Google Maps and import that.

Is there an advantage of importing by one of these methods over the other?

For the URL, it shows the waypoints from the Google route before you import, but they do not show on the import screen for the GPX import. However, both seem to create about the same imported route with a TON of Via points and no specific marking for the Waypoints from the Google Maps URL.

(Looking forward to a Scenic desktop app version of the Power Planner :~)   )

Thanks for your question. Once Scenic 3.5 is out (just a few more weeks), stops will be transferred from Google maps to Scenic when using the "paste URL" feature in the Scenic WebApp.

B.t.w. I am not aware that you can export GPX files from Google Maps. I just tried and can't find it. Is this a new feature perhaps, that might not be available yet in all regions?

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

You're right, my apologies. I forgot to mention a step I was going through. I used http://www.MapsToGPX.com to take a Google URL to GPX. I just wanted to see if there would be any difference. The only difference was no Way Points show up in the Scenic import with the GPX approach. (Note: Your route cannot have the same starting and ending point with MapsToGPX. You have to use an end point slightly off of where you start.)

Looking forward to 3.5! I know you have put a ton of work into that.
