I need a WEB version!

Quote from Zoomer on 18.03.2023, 12:33I'll add on to those who want a web browser version for route planning. I understand that other programs can be use for route creation, but that is cumbersome. Furkot is a terrible program. I've tried it many times, and always end up in a furious rage at it. With so much good UX capacity in the world, it is absolutely primitive.
I like Scenic a lot, but unfortunately I end up using REVER at least as often. And sometimes I use REVER to plan routes on my iMac, and then export them to Scenic.
Regarding priorities, Motive Monkey is a dim and distant lower priority than a web route planner. IMHO, naturally.

I respectfully disagree. Sure... Furkot's UI won't win any eye candy awards and it's use/capability may present a challenge to some, but it's probably one the most capable - if not the most capable - trip planners around. I've dabbled with many of the available planners out there and have yet to find one that is as capable. Frankly... after getting some experience using it and reading its documentation (which is also pretty good)... it's use seems pretty straight forward to me.

Quote from Zoomer on 18.03.2023, 22:48I'll respectfully maintain my opinion, but I don' t need to convince anyone else or convert them. I do like the extras that Furkot has, including sleeps and eats and fuel stops and other broader trip planning features. None of those features compensate for its cumbersome route planning interface. It has the extras, but fails at the basics.
No matter. I'm glad Furkot exists and that it works for some. I have and use REVER and Scenic, and I think Scenic is, on balance, the best route planner. A web browser planning feature would be a marvellous addition.

Quote from NHRider on 19.03.2023, 06:24I added this post because it’s always best to have a native app planning your trips and can without any issues, import it or even better have it saved as a Trip as you are building it and don’t have to import it into the app. There has been many posts about use this or that and all incredibly good feedback. However, we should be taking this feedback and using it to create a native Route planner that is married to Scenic so there are no issues in importing other maps routes. I’ve had such a terrible time with this from having the app not understand all the turns and or stops so every road that’s turned onto is a waypoint! Totally obnoxious!!! To Unable to import without errors. Please check your route for proper waypoint. Bla. Come on Man! Let’s build the best planning site based on all your feedback and the features but easier to use controls then FUBR or what’s it’s called. You said a web version was coming! Let us see and help see what there and offer feedback as to direction!

Might be unrealistic expectations. I've used other solutions that have mobile apps and native route planners (their own ecosystem if you will). I haven't seen one yet that didn't produce discrepancies between the route planner and the mobile app even when they both use the same map data source and there was judicious use of shaping points. Some solutions allow you to navigate tracks (including Scenic). Problem with those, you lose waypoint information and you can still find discrepancies (generally more rare and minor) in the route generated by the mobile app.
For comparison... I use MyRoute-app on my Android phone. It has it's own native route planner (Routelab/Routeplanner). Routeplanner allows you to create routes on the map data (OSM, HERE, TomTom, etc.) that's used on the target device/application. My target application is MyRoute-app (either Navigation or it's new replacement (in beta) MyRoute-app Mobile). Even with staying in the ecosystem here and using the same map data, you still have to verify that the route generated by the mobile app doesn't have discrepancies.
Given that you still have to do this verification step, which solution makes the process less onerous? Furkot/Scenic or Routeplanner/MRA-Mobile? It's no contest... Furkot/Scenic blows away MRA in this category. When you import/open your Furkot trip in Scenic the track is already overlaid on the route, making the process of detecting/correcting discrepancies quick and easy. MRA can also overlay the track on the route for this use, but it's process for doing so is more onerous (and again it's the solution with it's own route planner/ecosystem).
I've looked at various other Android/iOS navigation solutions out there. When I have, a statement in a review always comes to mind...

The majority of Motorcyclists today use a GPS or Mobile App to navigate their rides. GPS tech and Mobile Nav Apps have changed quite a bit over the years but very little has changed in the way we plan our rides. We typically have maps spread out all over the place, our route editor open and two or three browser windows open with various sources of travel information that we may want to include in our ride.
Every couple of years there's a new crop of online route creation applications trying to get our attention but most of them offer little more than the same route path creation tools. Some of these new 'planners' bill themselves as 'simple to use' in their description which usually translates to 'nothing new here'. Community-sharing seems to be the highlight for most of these apps and some even have contests to differentiate themselves and pay their bills. There are a few ride-sharing websites that actually do share their ride data without you having to pay for the privilege of accessing someone else freely shared ride data - I'll point them out later in this article.
Most of the route generators and planners do very little, if anything, to actually help you plan. So, why is this? The world is full of interesting people, cool roads, places to see, places to overnight, more cool roads, history and geography and all of that information is available for free on the Internet - but not in your Trip Planner. Until now, that is.
Right now... the only mobile navigation apps that appear to be worth my time are Scenic and MRA. Scenic right now is the best solution out there in my opinion. The MyRoute-app Mobile beta (still being developed) is showing a lot of promise and may give Scenic a run for it's money when it gets released. Route planning - it's almost exclusively Furkot. I might use Routeplanner for simple stuff or to overlay tracks on routes for discrepancy correction, but other than that, Furkot gets the nod (for use with both MRA and Scenic).
Personally... I would prefer what limited resources there are being focused on maintaining/improving the mobile app (and making Android Auto a reality) vs. being consumed with creating a native web based route planner for which there isn't much to be gained.
My 2 cents.

Quote from alextraveler on 19.03.2023, 08:32What about running Android Scenic app on Windows? I don't know how much effort it would take to make Android app resizable, but it will probably be less effort than creating a web app. I've played with Yahoo mail Android app and it worked well on a big screen. It felt like a native Windows app.

Right now there is no Android Scenic app... Word has it, Android Auto will be a thing for Scenic sometime this year.
I could see what you suggest as being handy, but it may still have the same issues with discrepancies that have to be checked/corrected.
