"Global riders" - a frustrating comparison !

I've just received the June newsletter from Scenic and the opening sentence is something that really grates my cheese:
"... Summer riding season is in full swing. This means Scenic users worldwide are riding, camping, and adventuring on their bikes ..."
I use a couple of route planning / recording apps for the bike and they probably all come out of the US but are the Americans not aware that the earth is split into a 'northern hemisphere' and a 'southern hemisphere' ? And when it's summer in the northern hemisphere, it's winter in the southern hemisphere .. and guess what ? It reverses every six months !!
So a statement like "... Scenic users worldwide are riding, camping, and adventuring on their bikes ..." is probably only true if you're in the northern hemisphere and it's currently summertime ! But for those of us in the southern hemisphere - where it's below 10 degree Celsius each day - it ain't much fun camping !!!
So please, to those 'clever' people in your marketing teams, select your audience a little more carefully or tweak the messaging so that we, your customers, feel more included rather than feeling outcast because we're not the same ".. worldwide .." !

I understand your rant, and although I'm from the northern hemisphere (originally from the Netherlands, now living in Mexico), I am fully aware that your seasons are reversed. Less than 3% of our user base is from the southern hemisphere, so that's something we are taking into account when writing these communications. Hope you understand. We'll try and be more careful in our wording next time.
All the best,
Guido

Yes, I'm sure the numbers of riders 'down under' is way less than in the northern hemisphere (3% is pretty low for sure), so I do understand where you're coming from.
But just think how special that 3% would feel if we had a 'personalised' email to just us 🙂
Anyway, it was a rant; I'm over it and have moved on .. life's too short ! Keep up the good work with the app ... See you out there ...

This may be the case for you, but there are plenty of people that are going für motorcycling and camping in winter, like me.:-)

if it makes you feel better, I think we have colder weather and more snow in Quebec, Canada. So when march 16th is coming, you should see all the guys and gals washing their bikes on the 15th! We had snow until mid April this year and temperature below 10C until almost May. We even had a couple of days with -30C and lower in February. Still, I had the “desperate ones” going out in the snow on march 16th. I even have a colleague who had winter tire installed on his bike (it’s the law in Quebec), I’m not there yet 🤔😆🤪
I hope that you don’t have as much snow right now and wish you a great riding season soon
