fix overlay of saved trips while riding, please

I really liked being able to see my done/saved trips showing on the map while riding, so I can find new roads I've not taken yet.  But with this new big update and a whole lot of saved rides, it's just too much for the app to handle reasonably or it crashes altogether.  I used it all the time while riding to find roads that I've not been down before anytime I'm out wandering the highways.  Now it's just way too many overlays and ruining the app experience.  So, I'm hoping you can simplify one single overlay that sums up all the saved rides, so that it doesn't have a 100's of the same overlays and taking up data and bogging down the app or crashing it completely.  Just one summary trip, maybe in each direction, and weed out all the repeated overlaying trips.  Does that make sense?  It really helped me find new places and was lots of fun to find new roads.  I attached two pics, as you can see, all that could be simplified into one, each way, route... maybe?  I really hope you can do this for us.  I'm sure others might like it, too.  On a side note, not a fan of the new dotted line, but still have really enjoyed the app and appreciate all your hard work.  Thank you for it all.

Hi @boodah,

Indeed having a lot of rides displayed on the map can cause performance and stability problems.

I understand your request and will add it to the feature request list.

As a sidenote: although this is functionally very simple, technically this is quite a challenge. Currently, each track is drawn on the map as a line connecting all coordinates of that track together. Where the lines overlap (or come very close) this would have to be merged into one line. Since rides are added all the time, and you can choose the ride-folders that show on the map, this "merging" would have to be done on the fly when the map loads. It's not impossible and probably less performance-intensive than drawing everything on the map (although I will have to check that).

Once I have a bit more time, I will dive into this.

Thanks and best regards,
Guido

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️
