Draw Lines Feature

Many thanks for a great app.

  1. The cycling app Ride With GPS has an option to "draw a line"; this is particularly useful when a user knows there is a bridge or road or track that is not shown on the map. For example, I was plotting a route recently that crosses a short two-lane bridge well known to me; the map did not show the bridge, so Scenic plotted a 60KM detour to take me 50 metres; with the "draw a line" feature, one clicks on "draw a line, clicks a way point either side of the bridge, then clicks "follow route" and continues as usual.

This feature is sometimes also referred to as “straight line”, “bee-line”, “as the crow flies”, or “uncoupled” mode.
It’s currently not possible but is on the list. Here is a forum post with more explanation: https://scenic.app/forum/topic/plot-off-road-course/#postid-5103

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Many thanks for the quick reply. I have looked at your link above, and I would be delighted to see an "uncoupled" mode in power planner. I live in Thailand where there are endless dirt roads. When Scenic will not generate a route on these dirt roads I plot the route in the cycling app Ride With GPS, and import into Scenic using the "follow blue line" option. It would be great to be able to generate the blue line directly in Scenic. Incidentally, after drawing a line on RWGPS you then click "add to route" and it continues plotting a route with turn by turn navigation.

Many thanks for such a great app, and your seemingly tireless development. I hope your leg is healing well, without too much discomfort.
