Customizer zoom level discrepancies?
Quote from mattsz on 04.05.2025, 06:49Some custom styles - for example, @wesco1966's excellent "Michelin-style" map, have labels visible at zoom levels apparently outside the allowed range.
His "Label (road name / number)" is set to be visible at zoom level 10, even though the lowest possible level says 13. And it works, showing the labels to level 10. My screen shot examples in another thread show this setting. But as soon as I try to change the setting - say, from 10 to 9, or even 10 to 11, it jumps right to the minimum 13, and cannot be set back to 10.
How did it get set to 10 (maybe wesco1966 can shed some light)... and how do I achieve this for my own custom map style?

Quote from Wesco1966 on 04.05.2025, 07:00I think that Guido did some changes in the limits after I created the style.
When I look today I have the same values as you described. When I try to change the zoom-level 10 it automatically changes to 13 🙁
I also agree that the names from Level 2 roads should be visible in a lower scale range.

Quote from Guido on 05.05.2025, 13:37The map provider provides 4 sets of map tiles. 1 for zoom level 1-4, another 5-8, another 9-12 and then 13-22. Each set contains its on data. To save disk space and download size, the sets for lower zoom levels (further away) do not contain all the information. That's the reason for these limits.

Quote from mattsz on 06.05.2025, 04:56Ok, that makes sense... but... how did Wesco1996's custom map end up with a label visible outside the default zoom range? The data is obviously there in the level 9-12 set, and it displays correctly, as his style demonstrates - until one tries to change the zoom level visibility value, at which point Scenic automatically bumps the visibility to within the (seemingly arbitrary) acceptable zoom range... and it cannot be returned to the original value. This appears to suggest a Scenic limitation, not a map data limitation?
