Custom map feature
Quote from Indigo Ride on 03.04.2023, 11:21Being able to create custom maps is a nice scenic feature which could be even better if you could set the road visibility based on a custom zoom or scale level.
This feature would be very helpful when your riding plan is mostly unpaved roads on remote area. Currently you have to zoom in quite high to start seeing these type of road or trail and by doing so you loose the wider view of the area.
As a basic illustration of this issue, try to visualize the only road (the Dalton hyw) that goes from Fairbanks to Deadhorse in Alaska. It is a 500 miles or so mostly unpaved but invisible unless you start zoom in really deep. This is a trivial example because this road is well known and obviously you know it exists but creating the route is cumbersome and what about all the similar roads you are not aware of and could be revealed just by adding this zoom setting option.
From an implementation standpoint, a good location to access the new feature could be in the custom map setting panel by adding a visibility scale dropbox (5, 10, 50, 100,…miles) in front of each road category where you already select the color.
As an alternate and simpler option, the new feature could be limited to unpaved roads with just a switch to turn on the visibility regardless of zoom level. The zoom visibility preset for category 0 to 3 roads are actually quite good.

Although some Scenic users like Furkot, your concern is exactly the reason I cannot be bothered with using it as a web-based route planner. The only way to view roads in the rural areas I ride is to zoom in so tight that I lose the big picture. Maybe Guido will have some thoughts... he usually does!
