Couple small issues and questions
Quote from rickwhitt on 08.06.2022, 09:59Hi Guido,
A few things that I'm observing and wondering about:
- On Round Trip, the Generate Round Trip button is not visible at the bottom of the dialog, unless I rotate the phone, then it shows. But then the distance slider at the top is not accessable. iPhone 7/iOS 15.5
- In the Routes folders, if I edit a route (name, points) and save, when it goes back to folder view it's not refreshed. New routes do refresh the view. I can sometimes force the refresh of edits by selecting a different folder, and then back again, but sometimes it still does not refresh, at least not right away. Is this somehow to do with the changes being sync'd back to the server and refresh is delayed?
- If I log out, and then back in, all my offline maps are gone and I have to re-download them. I'm assuming this is actually intended as a login is required to determine which maps are valid for that login? This is an edge case of course, normally we would not need to log out/in.
- There is no default POI or structure outline info on the maps as there is on Google maps and in fact in the Here WeGo app. I see that if you go to Here's web site you see the same bare maps, so this must be a layer they add on. Perhaps including that in the app would create a large size penalty or cost extra? It's really handy to have sometimes when you are figuring a stop at a store, etc, to know right where it is without having to go to refer to Google.

I'll take a look at that. Workaround for the moment: rotate your phone first...and then open the 'where to' dialog.

This is a known problem. It's a weird Apple thing. Not related to syncing. Still have to dive into this one.

Indeed this is 'as designed'. Offline Maps are linked to a Scenic account. If you logout an anonymous account replaces your named account. That anonymous account does not have the offline maps you purchased. If you login again with your account the maps are not downloaded automatically (that would take too much time to do as part of the login, and perhaps you don't want all offline maps on that device). Of course Scenic does remember which maps you purchased before so you won't have to pay credits for those regions again.

The HERE WeGo app uses the new HERE framework with slightly different map styles. I'm switching Scenic to that new framework before the end of this year. The current framework does have POI layers too, but the icons are so small it's not worth the performance penalty they add. (drawing all those icons on the map is quite a performance/memory hog).
