Couple of Defects in 4.01

Good morning.

Was using 4.01 for the first time today and noticed a couple of glitches:

1. Approaching a round trip start/end. I created a round trip for myself and put a starting point + endpoint in the same location on a street not far from the house. The app suggested to start the root. When I approach starting point it says I am there AND at the same time mentioned that I am near the destination and ended the trip. Expectation: I can go through the points before ending the trip. To solve the problem I restarted the route after I passed the starting point for like 100 meters and the app started routing me again.

2. I was en-route and saw this weird left turn and turn around. Made a right turn instead and continued with the route. My expectation was that the app would recognize that I just skipped the point and still on the path, but it did not and I had to remove the point manually

3. Joining the route at the arbitrary way point. In previous versions when I started a route I was able to choose how to enter the route, either from point 1 or click on the point I needed. Today After stopping for a lunch I was not able to figure out how to actually do this, I see an icon to start navigating and it places me on a primary screen, but it is not clear how to skip several points if I need to.

Hope this makes sense.

Thank you!

  1. Known problem. I'm looking into it.
  2. That's "as designed". You can change this behaviour in Settings > navigation & tracking > detour behaviour
  3. In Scenic 4 you have two options. Be guided to route start, or find your own way to the route. You can toggle between the options with this button. With guidance to route OFF navigation will start from the point wherever you join the route.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Guido,

Thanks your quick response.

I forgot to mention one more issue I noticed today.

I was enroute in between points like 10-11, so nothing extraordinary. For some reason the app started notifying me about the upcoming right turn that was ~6 miles ahead, but there were a ton of intersections before that (not route turns, just intersections). To me it was confusing because the announcement was "Turn right to Somestreet", while in other cases it says "Make a right turn in 2 miles". Typically when I hear a direction to make a right turn I do not expect it to be 6 miles ahead, I am under impression this needs to happen right now. Maybe there is a way to adjust announcements so that there always will be some distance to the turning point as a prefix unless it needs to happen right away? Just a thought.

I am on 4.09 now, but when I click the Guidance to the route button, it flashes Calculating route and then does nothing. Is the button broken or am I doing something wrong.

It adds your current location to the route. In other words it ads a route stretch from your current location to the route start. If the route start flag is already where you are then the difference will be difficult to notice.
