Configuring the max number of POI to export

I usually will import the one with the largest number otherwise, once imported, the BMW app will recalculate the route, sometimes making me do stupid detours. So by using the one with the most WPs chances of stupid routing are reduced.
The thing is that, even if I only created a route with 20 via, I still get a gpx that has thousands of WP.
Is this normal ?
