CarPlay, white screen and resume, resume, resume
Quote from HighPeakRider on 23.09.2025, 10:50After a short stop for petrol etc when the bike powers off the Carpuride screen, when I start the bike again I get a white screen sometimes,
but also get multiple Resume request, looks like I have to select different apps and keep going back to Scenic until it clears.
its like CarPlay loses connection to CarPlay then eventually catches up.
This is more evident when you have been using CarPlay split screen and also viewing Apple Music.

Quote from Guido on 26.09.2025, 08:29This is a difficult one to diagnose and reproduce. As there are many variables and it can also depend on the CarPlay system you are using. I’ve heard it before with older versions of Scenic,, but not recently anymore.
- Is Scenic running on iPhone when you connect to CarPlay? (if so, in foreground or background/locked phone)
- Wireless or wired connection to CarPlay?
- if wired, do you disconnect the cable from CarPlay during this break? And do you connect again before or after the carpuride has power again?
- are you navigating a route?
It would be very helpful if you could tell me the exact steps you are doing until this happens. For example:
- Started Scenic on iPhone
- locked phone
- started bike (carpuride is powered on)
- connected cable (if wired connection)
- selected route or destination on CarPlay and started navigation
- arrived at gas station
- turned off bike (carpuride is powered off)
- disconnected phone and put in pocket
- sent inside to pay for gass with phone in pocket
etc etc
I know this is hard to recall from memory, but every one of those steps is a variable that can have an impact / different code path in Scenic.

Quote from HighPeakRider on 26.09.2025, 09:02My usual steps when I see this are
Iphone is always in pocket.
Start bike
Select ride from Carpuride (CarPlay) screen. This is a wireless connection...
RideStop for lunch , fuel, which will power down CarPlay.
Restart Bike
Screen will be white with 'Resume' button -Press
It goes off, comes back on - Press again.Select a different app in CarPlay
Back to Scenic, resume again and eventually it will work.
Plus I usually ride in a split screen which will have Scenic and Apple Music if that can impact it....
I'll see if it can be recorded next time......
Cheers

I tend to leave it open..

Quote from Guido on 26.09.2025, 10:40OK. Hopefully with this I will be able to reproduce it. If I can't reproduce I can't really find the cause nor know when I fixed it. It would be trial and error. I'll keep you posted here.

Quote from Guido on 20.10.2025, 17:12I think I found the issue. Will be fixed in upcoming update. Indeed it was related to you using the split screen mode. In the split screen mode the "Ride Tracking Paused" alert can not be shown, but it was trying anyway, resulting in it trying to go back and forth between split screen and full screen. At least, that's what I found. Hopefully that was your issue too.

Quote from Brainsprain1 on 02.11.2025, 06:53Good morning,
I was making a trip and had a similar problem that I had in the past. Maybe what you've said explains it. Our trip had an intermediate stop to drop Sherry off at Mayo clinic for some tests. On the way our RV dash indicate low tire pressures. I left app running as I wandered around Jacksonville. When I got back on the road the app wanted me to go back to the beginning in St. Augustine. I was driving so I couldn't try anything. From what you say, I may need to completely shut down the app and start again. I was using carplay with cable in the RV. I have not had much opportunity. I had had a similar problem before CarPlay with the app that I reported to you. That woud be several years ago That had to do with just pausing the ride and trying to return to it. I'll have to remember to close the app when doing something crazy like this. AI or not, I assume humans can confuse it. If AI can be confused like we can, then wouldn't it be closer to being human? LOL I teach philosophy and write a substack that substantially deals with issues of religion. So this is an important idea—confused AI.

Quote from Guido on 02.11.2025, 12:03I found another bug in the current version that might explain these kind of things. Essentially, it's better not to shut down Scenic completely, but in some scenarios I understand that's the only option left.
In the next version some more bugs around CarPlay - iPhone, connecting and disconnect, editing a route during navigation, etc. will be addressed.
