CarPlay Update - Will Scenic be Affected?

With iOS 26 being released this week comes an update to Apple CarPlay. I'm not sure what they will be doing to CarPlay, but wondering how Scenic will be affected by it, if at all.

Apart from the look that comes with iOS26, nothing changes. Functionality stays the same.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❀️

Hi Guido.

Another question regarding CarPlay.

Have a look at the attached images. The bottom left shows time and distance to destination. However, the text is quite small and for me it's difficult to read.

As I don't know how CarPlay interacts with the iPhone or Scenic in particular, is it possible to make that text bigger?

[caption id="attachment_9644" align="alignnone" width="800"] Close up shot of the Chigee AIO-5 Lite screen[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_9645" align="alignnone" width="800"] A view of the Chigee screen from where the rider sits on the bike[/caption]

Sorry. This is something I can not change. This is part of the CarPlay template that apps are forced to use. Scenic just feeds the numbers and then CarPlay arranges how they are displayed.

Perhaps you can make this bigger with an accessibility setting. Not sure. I have not tried that myself.

I'll give the accessibility option a try and see if that improves things.

Hallo,

mit ios 26 konnte ich jetzt in den Carplay Einstellungen die Schriftgrâße auf 100, 110, 120 oder 135% (glaube ich) einstellen. ZusÀtzlich konnte ich die Schrift Fett machen. Das hilft.

Danke (sorry, I don't speak German).

I haven't had the chance to try it on the bike but in the car, the text in the menus is now HUGE. Sadly, the text within Scenic hasn't changed, though.

Hallo,

schreibe gerne in deiner Muttersprache.

ich lass mir immer alles ersetzen.

Im geteilten Bildschirm Àndert sich bei mir die Schriftgrâße. Im großen nicht.

Das ist bei Scenic gleich wie bei Google Maps.

I like how the distance and time stats appear in those shots along the bottom.

Which app is this? Is this Scenic? If so, how can I get mine to look like this in CarPlay?

Ja das ist Scenic.

in CarPlay/ Einstellungen/ Bedienungshilfen kannst Du das einstellen

Go to "accessibility" then (on my iPhone its the lowest point - IΒ΄m on Β German Language iOS 18.7) to "app-specific settings", select scenic and the you can change text features etcetc. You might have to add scenic from a list before being able to change settings...

Finally got around to testing this. At 134% text size the directions and menu options are larger, but the critical trip info, time to destination, etc. stayed the same size.

It's the same with all the nav apps that I have on the iPhone and mirror to the Chigee AOI-5 Lite.

Just played around with iOS 26 and CarPlay and came across this setting:

Settings (in the CarPlay interface on the Head Unit) -> Display -> Smart Display Zoom.

On my Carpuride 7" screen It gave me larger fonts and buttons in a size that are easy to hit with gloves on:

Your milage may vary based on your CarPlay device.
For me there was no need to change the font size in the Accessibility Settings any more because "Smart Display Zoom" enlarges all screen elements in a consistent way, including the "distance to destination" widget.

Best, Martin

P.S.: In case you are scratching your head about the color scheme, it is very specific to the V-Strom 1050 XT. Marts will understand πŸ™‚

Sorry, I don't. I'm feeling a bit slow lately.

Which model do you have? Mine's a '21 with the "Casio" dash.

Never mind, then it is my fault. Let me explain:

Mine is a '20 with the "Casio" dash too. I have created this green on black color scheme to match the LCD of the dashboard as closely as possible.
Gives me a unified look on the two screens which is easier for the eyes and makes the old-fashioned/outdated LCD dashboard look a little nicer.

Ok, that's an idea. I take it that you configured this in Scenic itself? I run the Chigee AIO-5 Lite unit and I've not seen any settings to allow screen configs like that.

If in Scenic do you want to post your settings up?
Thanks
Martin

The map colors are controlled by my Scenic style. I have added it to the "Custom Map Styles" thread: https://scenic.app/forum/topic/scenic-4-custom-map-styles/#postid-14831.
Feel free to use and change it as you like πŸ™‚

Thanks. Just got home from the MotoGP. Before I left I changed from "light" to "dark" to see how that looked. Unfortunately the change didn't appear on the Chigee in CarPlay. I'll have to investigate further.

But I have just now imported your "V-Strom" screen. Looks good on the iPhone.

Hard to see how it'll look. The sun is shining straight onto the screens. But definitely matches the dash.

Question totally unrelated to either Scenic, Carplay or Chigee, but why does the dash have those yellow elements when you see them with the naked eye as all green or in the case of the fuel level the two yellow elements are supposed to be black or whatever the background color is?

And those elements which look like they're blue?

The CarPlay displays seem to be quite different in their settings logic and myself I am using a Carpuride.
Regarding a Chigee maybe this little piece of information might be helpful: https://support.chigee.com/portal/en/kb/articles/day-night-modes#How_CarPlay_switches_between_DayNight

And please make sure to set the "Appearance and Colors" --> "Navigation screen" setting to "Dark" in Scenic.
Best, Martin

P.S. Hope you had a great time at MotoGP!

Yes, it was great. Miller DNF'ed which was sad, but Senna Agius 1st in Moto2 and Joel Kelso on the podium in Moto3.

HI, I have the problem in the elevation, in the iPhone is ok, but in the CarPlay show with one zero more.

Example
IPhone. Β 630 m

Carplay. 6300m

Regards

I’m 99% sure this is not a Scenic problem. Have a look here: https://scenic.app/forum/topic/carplay-issue/
