CarPlay no map
Quote from satmax on 18.04.2025, 13:53Sometimes, when I start or restart a ride, the mapscreen is empty (Appel CarPlay)
my workaround: switch in windows mode and back to full screen, then the map is showing.

How many times, out of 10 let’s say, does this happen?

Hi Guido,
not sure if it is really a Scenic issue. It occurs maybe 3 times out of ten and it starts with the map but as soon as I try to zoom out or in, the map is gone. It feels like having no imternet connection but everything else works fine and I just recognize that when being in my own Wifi.
My current workaround is to change the map to a satelite map and then go back to the normal map. In most of the cases it does then load the map again.
Regards
Thomas

Quote from Guido on 20.04.2025, 07:29Ok. Thanks Thomas. I don’t think that’s related to having a connection. I’m assuming you have the offline maps installed for your region?
In any case, I’ll have a look to see if I can reproduce it and find a fix. Thank you!

Quote from Dae on 20.04.2025, 09:17I have had the issue once in the last month or so. Unfortunately I can’t remember which version I was running ave have been unable to reproduce the error. Flicking back to the main CarPlay Home Screen and back to Scenic fixed it. It hasn’t happened again since.
Mine was in the middle of a ride though, not just after I started a ride.
@guidomm - if it helps it was around the time of the “not on route” major issue we discussed, so I think I initially ignored it due to that bigger bug.

correct, offline maps are installed for that specific region.
Not a big deal and as I wrote, I am really not sure what causes the „failure“, therefore I did not want you to search for it.
Nevertheless, thank you!

Quote from Middelfrangge on 20.04.2025, 10:43what a shame…….the download on my Ipad was paused, therefore no offline maps!……and just by chance it just happened again.
@guidomm, in that case I really think it is a connection issue but most probably of the OSM Server

Quote from Guido on 20.04.2025, 11:11OK. In that case yet it could be a connection issue. I'll check with the map provider. Connection issues are always very difficult to debug, as there are a lot of things in play that can cause a slow connection. From the device until, to your route or the cell tower, to the map server.

Are you running latest iOS 18.4.1 updates?
it may fix the connectivity issues on CarPlay you are seeing : https://9to5mac.com/2025/04/16/ios-18-4-1-promises-carplay-fix/
It addresses an issue that could cause wireless CarPlay not to work in select vehicles.

Interesting - I just tried using carplay in my Toyota, for the first time in months... it exhibits some of the behaviors described in that 9to5mac article, specifically the connecting and disconnecting over and over again. The whole thing is unusable. I am running the latest ios 18.4.1...
