Carplay - Iphone in Pocket switches off Scenic

Hi,

till now I had my phone fixed on my handlebar but used my Carpuride carplay display and that worked well, however two screens are too much and I thought due to the wheather forecast to put the Iphone in my tank-bag today. The problem is that scenic need to be on all the time otherwise carplay wont work perfect at least zooming with the controller will not work…..so far so good and that worked until now. With the iphone in the tank-bag, scenic did not stay active all time because my phone screen got in contact with other parts in my tank-bag. The Iphone 15 has a screen that can also be used with gloves (I think starting from Iphone 13) and therefore anything else can change my screen and change the active app.

How do you prevent scenic gets inactive when your phone is in a pocket?

Thomas

Your iPhone does not need to have an active display when you're using CarPlay.  Just press the side button to turn off the display. Scenic will continue to transmit to the CarPlay device.

Cheers,

Dan T.

Hi Dan,

sorry, but the scenic need to be active when you want to use a BT controller for zooming.

Got it. You're using a BT Controller linked to your iPhone to control Scenic.

You might try adjusting the touch sensitivity of the display to reduce the chances of an unintended touch on the display.

Settings -> Accessibility -> Touch -> Touch Accommodations -> increase the Hold Duration time

Thanks but I was hoping of a more simple solution……I already hate that my screen is always on because I hate switching forth and back. Either I forget to return to switch on my screen lock after e.g. 30sec. or forget to switch it off. In any case either my BT controller dies not work or my screen is always on when I am not using Scenic. Another change of my settings will be the overkill for me.

Hi Thomas,

my iPhone is in a cotton towel in my tankbag. No connection issues so far.

It avoids scratches and i use the towel to clean my helmet on breaks when necessary.

Could be a simple solution.
