CarPlay crash on every stop off/on

On every stop, when I switch off / on my bike and CarPlay, scenic crash. I must switch to iPhone Scenic Screen, wait a few seconds, and then press continue route…

if I had make a change on the Route during CarPlay switch off, all my route changes are lost after pressing continue/resume route.

Getting closer to a solution. I found the possible cause. When Scenic was not running on iPhone, and you turn off CarPlay, Scenic state gets removed from memory after a while. Possible workaround (have not tried): Start Scenic on iPhone before you get on the bike to start your route.

After each stop that I made with my bike (power off CarPlay), scenic crash. I move Scenic in foreground bevor restart CarPlay: scenic crash.

Same issue, it’s really frustrating. I’ve tried to move to full screen on any other app in CarPlay before turning the bike off. Seems to crash less. Even if it does restart the tracking and route guidance in CarPlay, it almost always loses ETA, mileage to end, etc. in either full or small screen.

Just confirmed this fix does not work.

I know it has only been a couple of days since this topic was last addressed but I wanted to check and see if you have made any progress.  I have some long rides planned out in Scenic starting later this week and throughout the summer; I really want to be able to use them without having to restart the app every single time I stop.  I did around 500 miles this last Saturday and it was very frustrating having to restart the app every time I started the bike up.

I gave up the phone mount just for the carplay functionality and I do not want to go back to using the phone on the bars.  My only other option is going to be to use something else.

I appreciate your help.

Working on it. This is my top priority at the moment. Have tried several fixes without success... now trying another fix. Will keep trying until I fix it.

Had the same this week. 20 times at least.

a beta version is currently being tested. Results are promising.
If all goes well… it will be released before next weekend.

Today I makes a short stop, <3 minutes and scenic does NOT Crashing.

every stop longer than 10 minutes, Scenic crashes.

4.19 with fix is awaiting apple approval.

Thanks Guido - I can't believe the amount of work this must take - I've noticed that with my carplay unit the 4.18 no longer allows for searching destinations from the unit itself, or selecting routes - is this addressed in 4.19?

 

4.19 is avaiable in the app store now. It's being released to all users over a 7 day period. You can already manually update by going to the app store if you wish.

The bug you mentioned was never reported to me. Are you sure about this? There was a bug that sometimes caused the top toolbar not to have any buttons in it (including search button). This has been resolved.

For 4.18, the workaround is to temporarily switch to split screen and then back to full screen. That will also bring back the buttons. But... that's fixes in 4.19.
