Better Solution for Custom Routes w/Scenic than Furkot?
Quote from MrELB on 11.04.2020, 17:12Hello and thanks for reading.
I use nav apps like Scenic exclusively to create custom maps on my home PC that I then send to my iPhone for my rides. Having a route in place ensures I hit the best or most intriguing unknown roads and frees me from having to concern myself with navigation while riding.
Scenic does a great job with the navigation, turn-by-turn, etc. The one area where it has fallen flat for me is the translation of custom routes I've mapped on my PC to the Scenic app on my phone. Furkot is a perfectly solid custom mapping program. The issue I run up against is when Scenic converts the Furkot map to a Scenic one, things can go awry, parts of the routes I painstakingly selected can change, and therefore I need to then edit every custom map on my phone with Scenic. And, where creating custom routes on the PC with a mouse is a breeze, shifting pins on my iPhone screen with my finger and decreased functionality is a serious pain.
This is a somewhat long way of asking, Do you know of a better PC mapping solution that converts to a Scenic custom map more reliably (or, do you know some method of using Furkot that won't result in these "mistranslations" of my custom route)?
If you do, it'd make all the difference in my using Scenic.
Thanks,
ELB

im afraid this is the only way for now. Using another route creation tool will not make much difference. Manual correcting is necessary for several reasons which all still apply even you would use a different tool.
the only way to prevents this is to plan directly in Scenic. I’m planning to add this to the webapp in the future.
