Best practice for road blockings and deviations?

Hi Forum,

I was on a 300km roundtrip through austrian and bavarian alps yesterday. I'm using carplay on my BMW and Scenic worked very well. Even after some breaks the route was resumed correctly.

But at the last leg towards the end the route through a village was blocked. I followed the deviation and Scenic directed me back to the planned route first, because it didn't know about the blocking.
After skipping some via points, Scenic calculated a new route following the deviation. Unfortunately the deviation was full of cars. So I was looking for alternative route via some small streets to avoid the traffic jam.

At this point I don't know the best practice to modify the active route. I don't want to stop the active routing/tracking, because this will split the track in parts.
What do you do in such situation? Especially if you not familiar in the region?

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Changing (adding, moving, deleting waypoints) is not possible on CarPlay, but you can do it on iPhone without interupting the ride tracking.
First, switch to another app (like the music app) on CarPlay. This will make Scenic active on iPhone.

Then, on iPhone, slightly move the map to go to overview/edit mode. Then tap the "edit route" button bottom right. Now you will end up in the power planner where you can change the route as you like (similar to when you are creating a route from scratch).

Then, make sure to exit edit mode on iPhone (so that you are back in the navigaiton screen).

Then make Scenic active on CarPlay again to follow the changed route.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Hi Guido,

many thanks for the detailed description. I will try at the next ride.

Best regards,

Thomas
