Basic Version for Sharing

@guidomm

As you may know, I design and run the driving tours for my local Porsche Owner's Club region. Have you considered making a limited version? What I mean is a version that can add shared routes to, and navigate them with turn by turn voice, but only allows for very limited  route planning. Then, the subscription would either be a low price, or the club could buy a group subscription.

This would let me plan routes in Scenic, then share them with all the drivers in tour tours, who could then have the turn by turn nav, and the ability to use Scenic to get them home from the end of the drive. But, they would not have the ability to do more advanced planning, and maybe not be able to search for public routes.

I don't know if this is feasible for you to do, but it would be awesome for my club if you did.

Actually, I've had similar requests. There are now many clubs and tour operators/organizers that use Scenic. They want a reliable way to plan routes, share them with their members/clients in a private way (not public) and have a way for their clients to navigate the exact same route (without changing it). If their members/clients uses a variaty of apps and navigation units, there is no way to be sure that everyone will get the same route. (because they will use different map data, different routing algorithms, etc. So... a solution could indeed be to offer a limited Scenic version that's free for the members/participants.

I have many ideas around this topic, including limited versions, an "operator" version, etc. But... so far I've not had time to dig into this yet. My first priority is still the individual Scenic user, and there are still many things on the list for those.

I'm not saying I won't ever do something like this, but it will definitely be a while. More so because there is a workable (not perfect) situation now for the clubs and tour operators. And... lastly... providing a limited version for members/clients of the club/tour operator would be a lot more effective once the Scenic Android version is out (as not everyone has an iPhone of course).

Hope that makes sense.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Hi Guido.

How about a free test version for 1 week. Customers could test it for free and may become paying clients.

Only problem is, how do you know, which customer already had a free version.

E-Mail could be changed weekly, maybe it should be confirmed by apple-id. Dont know if this can be realized.

Everyone could have the chance to test scenic in full version.

Just my 2 cents, Mex

There is already a subscription with a 2 week free trial of course.
But... I understand maybe an extended trial would be nice for this situation.

I'll give it some thought.
Thank you Mex!

@guidomm It certainly does make sense. It would work much better as a "club" app with an Android version.

And I agree that it would be better to get Scenic near perfect before adding additional options like this one.

But, the minute you start working on it, let me know. I will serve as a beta tester.
