Question: Where do you usually make and carry out the routes, what programs do you usually use?
Quote from jordi honrubia on 04.03.2024, 10:49Hello, I would like to know when you set up a route where you do it on your PC or mobile and what programs you like best to do it with.

Quote from Guido on 04.03.2024, 11:10For simple routes I plan directly in Scenic.
For more complicated routes, I use Google Maps, and then import the route into Scenic: https://scenic.app/help/import-from-google-maps/?seq_no=2

Is that because you use PC and then have the Google map on a bigger screen with mouse compared to the (a bit clumsy?) iPhone or iPad touchscreen?
I use MAC and plan my fairly complicated routes in Scenic. Did not miss anything up to now..

If you have a Mac, Scenic will run on that too. But only if it's a Mac with Apple Silicon processor. It will not run on older Macs with Intel processors.

That's why I asked the question, because I have a PC, I don't have a Mac.
Using Google or a myroute account that I like but I thought that maybe using other applications is impossible for me with the mobile screen.

Quote from Medic12061 on 04.03.2024, 13:30If possible I will use a PC and Furkot.com. The import into Scenic has been flawless and the premium features of Furkot.com for $14/yr are fantastic. Multiple day routes all done in one planning session are great and the best feature has been finding food places before getting on the road; I have found some great hole-in-wall places that have turned into real gems.

l have just completed planning three weeks, Andalusia. On the fly edits, re plans are easy, normal. Years ago, having followed a snow plow off the mountains I sat with coffee, reworked all routes around the Storm. Paper and iPhone.

Quote from Sampleman on 05.03.2024, 10:51I use the German web app Kurviger.de
I started to use Kurviger.de some years ago when I still had my old TomTom Rider. Initally TomTom had promoted the development of the online planner TYRE, but apparently this connection has become lost, so I got an Kurviger account. Kurviger allows to create optimized routes and export them in various file formats.
Last year I sold my TomTom and started to navigate using my iPhone and Apple Carplay. I found out that Kurviger offers a direct path to export a route to Scenic, so I got a Scenic license.

I use Google Maps, create the route, then copy the URL into Scenic's web App. That imports it into the app.
I also use the My Route App website. I'll create the route, save it and export it (using the "save as" function) to a GPX file which is saved in a folder on iCloud Drive.
iCloud Drive is accessible to all of my Apple devices, so I can load up routes as needed. I then use Scenic's import functions to import the GPX files.
The great thing about Scenic is being able to create folders in which to store routes. I have created a few to separate private rides from group rides.

Hi Guido.
I've just installed Scenic on my Mac Mini M2 Pro. It works well and the Power Planner is SO easy to use on the Mac with the 32" screen.
However, and this for me is a big one, its default location is Cupertino, USA. I'm in Australia.
I have location services and all that working (Google Maps knows where I am). How do I get Scenic to centre on where I am?
Thanks
Martin

Quote from Guido on 11.03.2024, 18:09This is a bug that will be resolved in the upcoming update.
For now, what you can do to resolve the problem, is tap the "start ride" button. I know it won't do anything, but it will store your location and center on that one next time.

I'm now learning how to use Power Planner now that I can plan rides from home. One thing that it's not doing for me is to either zoom in or out to more precisely insert Via or Stop points.
Can the map be zoomed when running on a Mac?

Quote from Guido on 11.03.2024, 18:31Hold command key and then use mouse scroll wheel.
If you have a trackpad, you can pinch zoom with thumb and index finger, or hold command key and make scroll gestured (usually move two fingers up or down on the trackpad).
I know that the command key + scroll wheel / scroll gesture jumps the zoom in too big steps. That will also be fixed in the next update.

Ah, great!
Am now planning a 600 km ride that we're doing in two weeks' time. Learning how to use the via points including changing the route between via points using "Via X".Thanks again for your continued developer support. It's fantastic!.
