As for the GPX, like @massi mentioned, the GPX should contain enough info. 2 routes and 1 track. The routes (one of them anyway) is specifically for Garmin devices. You (or rather your Neigbour) might even get it on the device through one of Garmin’s apps (I believe it’s called the Drive app), without using basecamp. You’d simply have to send the GPX to him/her and they take it from there.
Indeed I’m not sure the routes are useful in basecamp. You’ll probably get better results with the track in basecamp like massi mentioned.
