Always redirected even when the route was planned

I just did a 3 days ride where I planned a route for everyday. The problem that I have is that Scenic makes redirection and was making me turn to bizarre places even when I never asked for them. Sometime I stopped to verify directions and even if the route was clear, the app was sending me on a wild goose chase for many kilometres which was frustrating. I even had to resort to use Waze because Scenic was not able to keep me on the road that I had planned. Is there a specific thing that I need to do to fix this?  I love the app but I sometimes need to use other navigation app because it sends me to bizarre detours that I never asked for.   My guess is that sometimes I just take a small detour (a street or two) to fill up the gas tank or take a bite but it’s kind of frustrating to not trust the app.

i miss the locations notifications that I was very fond in version 2 of the app. I often plan my rides to visit a cheese artisan, get a bit of bread , coffee or discover new stuff to eat and I cannot “discover” those new places that I would like to go to. I know the notifications/alerts are not active because of performance issues but if you know of an other app that does the job, I would appreciate knowing about it so that I could use the proximity alerts on my rides.

have a great day everybody!

Typically this happens when via points are placed on junctions... it then has to guess which road of the junctions they are on. But, I'd need to see examples of where this happens and what is happening exactly. How do you get your routes? Do you import them from another source? Do you generate them through curvy routing? Do you create them from scratch yourself? Also... what is you Detour Behaviour settings? (I recommend not leave auto-skip via points to OFF).

Proximity alerts are coming next season. Migrating to a new version of the HERE SDK during fall / winter.

Hello Guido,

here are some examples.  I circled the problem roads in red and I added the original route.

I planned the route in the app, they are not imported. They were not generated via curvy routing, I placed the dots directly myself.  As for the routing, you are right, the auto-skip was at OFF, so that might be the culprit.

Thank you for the answer and the news for proximity alert

hello Guido,

here are some examples, I circled the problems in red and also shown the original route.  As you can see, it was done manually, no imports and no curvy settings.  I chose the points myself.  But you are right, the anti-skip was at the OFF position, so that might be the culprit.  If you need the files, do not hesitate to ask.

thank you also for the news with the proximity alerts.

thank you also for this wonderful app that I really appreciate and that promote here in Quebec, Canada  I really like it

have a great riding season

Hmmm... Not sure what's going on. Could be caused by GPS inaccuracies, or, I see that the route has the same stretch of road in it twice. That might have something to do with it.

Would you mind sending me the link to the route? With that, I might be able to see why this is happening.  To send the link, select the route from your route list, and then use the 'share' button below the chart.

A few follow-up questions as well:
- Are you using Scenic with iPhone locked / in pocket? In other words, going by voice navigation only?

- In the first picture, is it telling you to go left (or right, depending on which way you are coming from) into "Rang de la Grande-Ligne", beforehand?

- In your last picture, I assume you're coming from top left and then have to take a left? If so, is it possible you misread (or misheard) the instructions, turning to the left one road too early?

Oh... and what are your settings for 'Detour Behaviour'? (Settngs > Navigation & Tracking > Detour Behaviour)
