Add via or stop point while in a ride

I needed to add some via and stop points to my route. I had the following issues and suggestions:

  1. If I search for location (by post code for example) the popup to add the point will appear. The problem is that the map is zoomed out and I can’t confirm do I need more precise location. Could you consider auto zoom in, please?
  2. If I want to add stop or via point by clicking on the map it takes multiple clicks, zoom in and out until the popup shows. Am I doing something wrong or there is a big delay?
  3. When you want to add the point it will ask what is the previous point before the new one. The problem with this is that I do not have any marker where the new point will be so I can track down the previous one. Could you consider putting a marker to stay there so I can zoom out and find the previous point? Also better solution at least for me will be to use the smart point insertion or at least to ask do I want to specify the previous point or to use the smart insertion.

Let me know if I can help with something else.

OK. Will add to list. For the moment, you can manually pinch-zoom the map.

So... it takes a long time for the bubble to show up when you tap the map? The only reason why it might take long that I can think of, is when your connection is not that good. When you tap the map it will try to get the address / place name for the tapped coordinate. If you have a connection it will do this online. If your connection is not that good, this might take a while. Or am I misunderstanding your point?

I could place a temporary marker to indicate the new point yes. Will add to list. Using the auto-insertion during 'live' route editing has some technical implications. E.g. what to do if it choses wrong. Currently only the power planner has an 'undo' feature. That's why, at the moment, I've chosen not to implement this.

  1. Thank you. I will be very happy if this is done at some point. At the moment I am using the  manual zoom in option.
  2. I will monitor my service next time to check if I have connectivity difficulties. It’s very possible but from user experience there should be a faster response, especially with the offline map.
If this is the case would you consider to add an option for custom timeout for this operation? In most cases if you are adding point by tapping on the map you know where you are going. It will be a problem if you are interested to find more info (like address) but there could be some identification to say it still trying to process the request. If custom/shorter timeout can’t be implemented then just consider adding visual notification that it’s waiting for response from the server. This way the user will not keep clicking and sending even more requests.
  3. I didn’t consider the case where the previous point will be wrong but in most cases you will remove this point. If it’s difficult to implement the undo operation then adding a temporary marker will be helpful.

Thank you.

Will have another look at this. During live routing Scenic assumes that offline maps are installed, so in reverse-geocoding (get address from coordinate) there should't be a need to connect. Only if no offline maps installed it should divert to online...
