Add Custom Cue feature

I see that RideWithGPS has a Custom Cue feature. It allows you to add a note to a place on a route, and the note is then spoken by the app when you reach that place. It's a complement to the app-generated cues that you hear in turn-by-turn directions.

Use cases:

  • Qualify the approach to a stop so that you don't overshoot it: "watch for entrance on right hidden by shrubbery"
  • Warn of hazards: "loose dogs here"
  • Clarify existing navigation: "confusing intersection, make sure to bear slightly right, but not sharp right"

Thanks for your consideration. RideWithGPS is pretty good for route planning, but it doesn't throw to CarPlay, which is a big plus for Scenic.

This is a highly requested feature. It's already on the list. Once I start working on it, I'll make sure to revisit this thread for your suggestions. Thank you!

I'm not planning to make a Waze like feature where all "reports" are shared with other users (Scenic doesn't have enough users for this to worth while), but the feature would be for yourself only. I.e. you mark spots during a ride (add some comments / cues) and then on next rides you would see those spots on the map and optionally get audio cues when you get close to them.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️
