The main line through the rail yard

SENIC version 4 is so cool!

I am currently sitting in my Coach seat on the southbound AMTRAK Pacific Coast Starlight, and tracking correctly on the new maps. These new maps show all the tracks, including the sidings and rail yards. Most importantly, the tracking properly displays superimposed on the plotted railroad track.

Five years ago I tried it with SENIC v.2 and it kept searching for any roads nearby to force the tracking onto. The resulting display was a mess.

Guido, in your spare time of course, you should consider adding Trains as a vehicle choice. This also opens up another reason to look into shareable live tracking via the SENIC web site – as a pay as you go feature, much like Spotwalla.

Hi Brodie,

I'm happy you like the new maps. Trains is a whole other ballgame. Theoretically I can already add "Public Transport" as "transportation mode", but this comes with much more specifics like transfer from pedestrian to train, or taxi, etc. I'll write that down to do in my spare time indeed. Somehwere in 2035 I should be able to find some time 😉.
