Ability to Name / Rename Start and End Waypoints

The name of waypoints (stops) can be set, but there is no option to name or rename Start and End waypoints, would be good if the naming of these waypoints can also be set.

Would also be good if a multiline description field could be added to add additional info about stops, that is displayed when clicking on the waypoint in navigation mode, or read out in the voice instruction when the waypoint name is read out.

That’s something I’ve never spotted, as I import my routes from elsewhere and Scenic preserves the name of the end point.

I should be able to add the option to rename start and destination easily. I'll have a look.

Adding a detailed description for stops is more involved as that requires a database change. I'll add it to the list though, but can't promise I'll have time for that soon.

Hi Grapii,

as a workaround set a stop 50 Meter behind the startpoint and 50 Meter in front of the endpoint and give the name you like.

For e.g.: After startpoint „wife“ in front of endpoint „sweetheart“!

Hi @grapii,

as Mex already pointed out there is a workaround to this. you start as Mex described and place a stop close to each start and end of your route.

You then name those stops as you like, if they are not already a specific location and already named by that.

When you now select the stop close to start and select the green flag for moving the start position where the stop is, same for the stop close to the end point, you will then be able to delete the stops and just keep the green and checkered flags.

You also will be still able to move those flags around if needed, but you loose the renaming possibility, so ideally your naming is kinda final if you really want to go this extra steps to have a nicer route layout.

Renaming any waypoint would be handy: when you designed an itinerary 2 days ago, and for any reason (road closed was my last occurrence, which made me jumps 3 full waypoints), you have to skip a waypoint, or worse, a couple ones in a go, when the app asks: « skip waypoint #17? » ehhh?? Which one is #17 now??

I’m not planning on naming via points. You can give stops a name but not via points. I realize it’s difficult to interpret which via point is the one to be skipped. The map zooms out a bit when the confirmation is asked but that’s not always enough.
