Zoom modes – Manual-, Speed- and Turn based

As of Scenic version 4.30, Scenic offers four zoom modes during navigation. Cycle through them using this button (also available on CarPlay).
The setting is remembered between navigation sessions.

Manual Zoom

Places zoom in/out buttons on the map. The map only changes zoom when you tap these buttons. No automatic adjustments.

Speed zoom

The zoom level adjusts automatically based on your speed. The faster you go, the more the map zooms out. You can customize the zoom level for six speed ranges in Settings > Finetuning > Zoom customization.

To see what zoom level the map is in, enable “Map Scale” and “Show Zoom Level” in Settings > Map Settings.

Manual + Turn

Like Manual Zoom, but with automatic zoom-in when approaching a turn on your route. You control the base zoom level with the zoom buttons. When you get close to a turn, the map temporarily zooms in so you can see the maneuver. After the turn, the map returns to your manual zoom level. The trigger distance depends on your speed — at higher speeds, the zoom-in starts earlier.

Speed + Turn

Combines speed-based zoom with turn-based zoom. The map zoom adjusts to your speed, but when approaching a turn on your route, it zooms in further to show the upcoming maneuver. This mode only works while following an active route; otherwise Scenic uses speed-based zoom.
