Using What3Words with Scenic

What3Words has given every 3-metre square of the world a unique combination of three words that never changes. This makes it easy to share locations with others.

Scenic now integrates with What3Words. You can enter a w3w term in the search bar, and you can get the w3w term for any location on the map. Here’s how this works:

Enter a w3w term in the search bar:

You can enter a What3Words term in the Scenic search bar. Scenic will aslo auto-suggest w3w terms as soon as it recognizes you are typing a w3w structure. After tapping “search” on the keyboard, or selecting one of the auto-suggest results, the map will center immediately on the right location. Here’s a short video on how this works:

Get the w3w term for any location on the map

Long tap on the map, to bring up the callout bubble. In the callout bubble tap “Copy Coordinates”. Now a panel will appear, allowing you to copy the coordinates in various formats, including the w3w term.

 

If you don’t see the “copy coordinates” in the callout bubble, make sure that you update to the latest version of Scenic, and that “Show coordinates in callout bubble” is turned ON (Settings > Finetuning).
